Barnabas Factor began in the mind and heart of Tom Salter in 1990, through enduring some difficult ministry turmoil, God imparted a clear call to be an encourager to pastors. Since that time the Barnabas Factor ministry has grown from being part of Tom’s ministry, in addition to being the pastor at Tahoe Christian Center, to being a separate ministry with its own board of directors.
One of the ministries that Barnabas Factor does is arrange accommodations for pastors and their families to come and spend up to a week in beautiful Lake Tahoe.
God has opened wonderful doors that have enabled us to house pastors and their families for up to a week-long period of time. During our first three years, due to the graciousness of a Christian benefactor, we were able to offer lodging at a beautiful place for up to a week's duration for a minimal fee. This ministry has come of age in many ways. Each year, we sign a two month lease (July and August) and now we have other housing options for June or other months as well.
Recently we were able to add to our list a "Retreat Center" for selected dates. The Retreat Center is much larger and able to house entire pastoral staffs, parachurch organizations, and special groups of pastors.
And finally, an extra benefit that Tom provides pastors besides housing and a relaxing and refreshing time in Tahoe is his willingness to spend an hour with each pastor to share a single message that is meant to encourage them while on retreat.
So, whether you are a pastor in need of some time to get rejuvenated and refocused or a pastor that needs a time with your staff to build relationship, plan for ministry, or just have fun together, we would be honored to be a part of that.
