How do I book a week’s stay at your cabin?  It’s easy.  You need to call Tom Salter at (916) 729-6801, to get a date.  Remember the rented cabin is only leased from July—August.  If you would like to come other times of the year, still check with Tom.  He has other options!  And then check out the “Pastor Visits” button on this website.  You can download the “Pastor’s Packet” and fill it out—you can do it all online if you want to.  Or mail it.

Where can I find ... ?

Where can I find out more about a Staff Retreat…or bringing a group of pastors up?  And the answer is to go to the button “Staff Retreats”.  You would need to call Tom Salter at (916) 729-6801 to talk specific dates.  Each booking must be arranged by Tom with the owners.  But the  facility is spectacular!  It really is a mansion in the mountains:  three stories, a theater room, an elevator!  It is owned by a brilliant Christian man in the computer industry.  God has blessed this family a lot, and they want their place to be used for Kingdom purposes!  Praise God!

Why doesn't ... ?

Why can’t I bring my youth group up…or have an elders’ retreat?  We’re sorry, but God instructed us to focus on pastors and vocational Christian leaders.  And so that’s what we’ve done.  Tom may have some other suggestions for you to find housing for your other group needs.  Give him a call.

Why focus on pastors?  What’s the need there?  It is a tremendous need!  Each month in America, 1100 pastors are “terminated”.  Additionally, close to 1500 just give us, and head to the sidelines.  Tom is a pastor and he knows the problems they can encounter.  God has placed a special calling on his heart for them.

Who is ... ?

Who is the person who will contact me concerning booking a week?  Pastor Tom himself will do it.  It is our joy to minister to pastors and their families.

Who is able to book a week stay at a cabin? Pastors and Church staff. We don't have facilities for church boards and lay leaders.

What is ... ?

What is the cost of a week with my family?  Currently, it is $375.  Tom invites anyone to check with real estate rental companies in the Tahoe region to see what they’re asking (it’s much, much more).  This is a non-profit ministry.  We don’t make money; we SPEND money to provide a restful vacation for pastors and their families in Tahoe, that is still affordable

What if I just can’t afford it?  Tom still invites you to call him.  We have “scholarshiped” or discounted weeks at the cabin before.  Call us—let’s see what we can work out.

When is ... ?

When is the cabin available for my family?  And when can I schedule retreats?  Our rented cabin is just July and August, but Tom has other options.  Call him and see what he can work out for you.  As far as retreats---they can be scheduled year-round, within limits.  Again, Tom has to personally schedule each retreat with the owners, to make sure the large facility is available.

Are there other ministries like yours?  YES!  There are at least 100 such ministries across America.  Some are professional counselors.  Some, like Barnabas Factor, focus on offering a retreat setting for pastors. Tom and Barbara Salter belong to “Care Givers”, a nationwide coalition of ministries that minister to pastors.  You can access their website.  Go to: http://www.caregiversforum.org
